The Spaghetti Strategy (+ a $100K Coaching Contract)

Jul 27, 2024

She's truly kicking ass.

I caught up with a client on Thursday whose business continues to grow. She was invited to speak at a well-respected retreat. And recently landed a $100K coaching contract to design and deliver a program that excites her.

She joked that her business strategy is "throwing spaghetti at the wall".

When I asked her why she believes that's working well, she said "I think it's because I show up with the intention of having fun and being present". This is brilliant. It's enjoyable to be around someone who's having a good time.

Plus, it's easy to tap into your zone of genius when you're intentionally present like this.

When I reflected further after our call, it was clear that there's a few other things that are leading to her success.

1. Staying Top of Mind With Her Network

That $100K coaching contract she landed? It came from two people talking about her: a stranger who attended an online workshop she led last year (who then followed her on LInkedIn) + an old schoolmate (that she hadn't spoken to since the 90's) who'd been following her journey online.

Her content kept her top of mind with both of them.

When the coaching opportunity came up, they felt she might be the right person for the job, and the stranger DM'ed her to start a discussion.

2. Showing Up Boldly with an IDGAF Attitude

She's not just posting bland BS that ChatGPT barfed out, she's being bold in a refreshing way. She openly shares the struggles she's encountered on her journey, calls out sh!t she doesn't agree with, and is her full 3D self without caring about the potential judgement of others.

It's not "authenticity", it's alignment.

When you speak with her 1:1, it's very much the same passionate, thoughtful, and awesome person that comes across in her content. She's open. She's also warm, funny, and speaks her mind.

3. Being Hyper Aware of Her Energy

While she's intentional about having fun and ensuring she's present, it goes beyond that. In our conversation, it became clear that she's also paying close attention to her energy levels. Like many high-achievers, she's no stranger to burnout.

So she keeps some variety in her work to balance out her energy.

While she's been consistent with sharing her message online for the last couple years, she also gives herself permission to pause from posting when she feels she needs a break. Lastly, she recently went on a solo vacation near the beach with no agenda and no "to-do's". When's the last time you took yourself on a relaxing solo retreat?

You're the nucleus of your business.

If you're doing impactful work as a coach or consultant, your business is built around you and your energy. If you don't intentionally refuel it, you will inevitably struggle.

See you next Saturday,
