I Probably Shouldn’t Admit This
Sep 14, 2024But it's often my favourite call of the week.
Why? It's collaborative, creative, and the results are incredible. What the heck is it?
It's a content + messaging review session.
And it's one of three weekly calls with me available to those in my Impact Accelerator program. The goal of these sessions? To ensure your message not only connects with those you're looking to serve, but moves them to take action.
You bring your....
-
Content
-
Website
-
Landing page
-
Program outline
-
Or any form of messaging.
And you get...
Live feedback from me and the other awesome folks in the intimate program. Last week's session felt particularly juicy. The ideas were flowing and big "ahas" were had.
What did we review?
1. A Follow-up Email to a Potential Dream Client
What were the takeaways?
Keep it brief, offer clear next steps, and avoid language that could sound needy. Enrollment is much like dating where needy energy is a turn-off. If you want to be seen as an in-demand pro, you need to communicate like one.
2. A Mission, Vision, + Purpose Description
This is something they're going to refer to regularly when updating their website, populating their LinkedIn profile, and making content. The largest opportunity with their draft? Do a better job highlighting the massive positive societal impact of their work.
What they do really is helping make the world a better place.
But they were only describing that aspect at a surface level. While your work might not be saving lives, my guess is it is genuinely impactful in some way. So ask "so that", "so what" and "why" multiple times until you get to the deeper impact of what you do.
I call this the toddler method.
3. A Website Homepage
Lots of fresh ideas were brainstormed. However, there was one outstanding piece of feedback: Have clear headers for each section of your page that create a cohesive story on their own for someone who's skimming.
Those sections include:
-
Connecting to the shitty current reality + pain your Dream Clients are facing
-
Show that you know what they want instead
-
Paint an attractive picture of what's possible by working with you
-
Show proof that your shit works
-
Invite them to take action + make a decision.
After running these kickass weekly sessions for the last 16 months, there's a couple things that have become abundantly clear. It's easier to dial-in someone else's message than your own. You're often too close to your own work.
And you get much better results with the brain power of multiple minds working with you.
Some of the best ideas have been collaborations between different people on the call. This means one person makes a suggestion, and then someone else shares "I like what they said and I would add/tweak this." Boom.
Those are frequently the moments that make everyone on the call go "wow".
See you next Saturday.

P.S. Is this you?
You've looked at the page for DO BOLD SHIT and you're feeling a pull to join us .....but you haven't registered yet. And every week you watch the number of tickets at the bottom of this email get lower and lower. Well....we're down to just 36 spots left now. And if you keep it up, you might miss out. I don't want that for you. So you doing BOLD SHIT might have to start with you making the decision to be in the room with us.
